Butterfly Wonderland

Today my family & I got to go & experience Butterfly Wonderland for the 1st time with our playgroup. I had never been, but had heard nothing but great things & I am always down for new adventures.

When we arrived, we began the tour by watching a 3D informative movie about butterflies & their life cycles. I think their were mixed feelings about butterflies looking like they are coming right at you, but when our littlest A took her glasses off, she was just fine. It was very informative & fun. The best part was seeing all of the kiddos in the theater try to "grab" the butterflies every time they appeared to be flying around the room, lol. Luckily, no one was injured hee hee.

For the next part of the tour, the kiddos actually got to watch various butterflies & moths in their cocoons. I mean TONS of them. Some even hatched before their lil' eyes!

After that, the kiddos got to experience what I believe is the very best part of Butterfly Wonderland & actually go "outside" while millions of butterflies fly & sometimes land right on them. Initially the ladies kept really close, because lets face it, the idea of things flying everywhere & landing on you whenever they feel like can be a tad intimidating. But they were soon, curious lil' explores! Definitely had to help Adley watch her step though to make sure she didn't "ruin a butterflies day" if you know what I mean. They also had a pond full of huge fish that the ladies enjoyed looking at, especially Addie! Before entering, the tour guide said something about fairies, so of course the whole time Aidy was searching for a glimpse of Tinkerbell, lol.

Once we finished that part of the tour, it was definitely time to eat. everyone had packed their own lunch & we had a great time eating in their cafeteria.

Next, it was on to spiders, centipedes, ants, scorpions, & bees (a very small section of the tour). The girls really enjoyed seeing the inside of a hive up close & personal & taste testing some honey.

The final exhibit contained fish & stingrays they could "pet". Addie was also the most interested in this exhibit & wanted to touch the sting rays again & again.

At the end of the tour we picked up some fun sticker books for the girls in their adorable gift shop. They loved reviewing the names of the different butterflies they had seen in their lil' books.

It was an awesome experience I highly recommend. They are planning on expanding in the future with even more wonderful & educational things that the ladies & I are very excited about! We are definitely going to follow up this field trip with more fun things about insects & life cycles! This is the 1 we will be doing tomorrow as a review.
