Rising Up!

Lately, I have been working on teaching the lil' girls some of the "classic" stories. We most recently did "The 3 Lil' Pigs" then "The 3 lil' Bears" & now "The Lil' Red Hen". First, we read the story & discussed the lesson that was learned about being rewarded when you work hard & are patient. Next, we did an art project & the girls worked on being able to retell the story. To close the story & really drive it home, each lil' girl made their own loaf of bread. They loved checking on it periodically throughout the day & watching it slowly rise. We then cooked the loaves & then they got to enjoy some bread with hot butter just like the Lil' Red Hen did in the story. They got to see first hand that to get to the end result we have to work hard & be patient even when it is not always easy. Love it! Definitely try it with your kiddos. I loved letting each lil' lady have their very own loaf, but we definitely had to bless some others with a few slices because that was A LOT of carbs laying around lol.
