2 of the recent advent activities selected by the ladies were "light bulb color match-up" & "reindeer slam dunk". The "light bulb color match up" game was both educational & super fun. All you need is the Christmas light bulb color sheet (PDF file can be downloaded here or just make your own) & medium pom pom balls of various colors. I did this activity 1 on 1 with each child so they could spend some special time with mama & also not feel intimidated if their sibling could do it faster. All you do is set out the color sheet and a pile of the pom poms. Depending on the child's ability level you can play it differently, but for the most part all you do is call out a color & have them put the corresponding pom pom on the matching light bulb-SO FUN! They will feel so accomplished after they finish the activity. The girls asked to do it over and over and over and over again!!!
Not quite ready for color matching,
but having fun in her own way.
The other game idea actually came from a Bounty commercial, go figure-lol. I took brown bags & then turn them into reindeer, then I grabbed random small balls from their playrooms, & then we were ready to play. The goal of the game was to have the girls try to toss there ball into the bag/reindeer. For awhile that was super great, but then it suddenly turned into "Knock down the reindeer" lol. Kind of like bowling. Both versions were super fun & the ladies literally played this activity for a good hour. They loved standing at one end of the kitchen, counting down, & then throwing them all at the same time to try & knock down as many bags as possible as a team. SO FUN! "J" & I got in on the fun too!!!
