Are You Kidding Me, Am I Being Punked!?!

I have been very blessed to have a newborn that has been sleeping through the night since 2 weeks old & 2 older ones that also sleep great. Well, last night was apparently the exception. Midnight on Aidann kept waking up on the hour about the most random things. At 1 point she was crying because she couldn't find her shoes. Yes, I said crying because she wanted her shoes on but couldn't find SHOES!?! Anyway, it finally hit 5am & I was just sinking into that deep sleep. You know what I am talking about, so deep your are practically drooling & when you finally do wake up you don't know where you are or what day it is. Well, right when I was finally about to reach that, my cell phone rings. Its Jay & apparently he has suffered 2 bike tire blow outs on his way to work. Well, I would like to think of myself as pretty good at making things happen as smoothly as possible going from here to there with 3 kids under 3 years old, but getting them all up,dressed, & in the car at 530am on no sleep was not something I even wanted to attempt. I was beyond grumpy as I lay there in bed thinking of this daunting task I was about to have to take on. I finally rolled out of bed & started dragging my feet towards the girls room when I suddenly stopped myself. What kind of example was I about to set for my kids? How could I expect them to wake up even remotely joyful, while I was setting the ultimate example of grumpy? I then went back to my room & sat on the end of my bed.
I took a few deep breaths & then decided that this was not the attitude I wanted to begin my day with. There will always be things going on around us that we can use to "justify" a bad mood & make excuses with, but what is that going to help? Nothing! I am constantly telling my girls that they need to choose joy, but I need to do the same thing. Do as I say and as I do! Well, I made a conscious decision to choose joy & then hopped out of bed (a total 180), got some snacks & sippy cups ready for the babies, woke them all up, & my 5' 2" self sure did load them in that car with a smile. You know what, they woke up just as happy as can be & were beyond cooperative! It was the most wonderful sight to look in that rear view window & see Aidann & Asher all bundled up in their fleece blankets with sippy cups & snacks in their hands & great big smiles on their faces. When I drove up to get Jay I could tell he was expecting a angry sleep deprived wife that wanted to chew his head right off, but I am proud to say he got a smiling (still sleepy) wife sporting bedhead, sweats, & a great big smile instead.

We can be the most awesome examples for our kids, but it takes work & a conscious effort on our behalves. In the long run you are making things easier on yourself. Would you rather obey someone who says one thing to you but does another or a person who is daily walking out exactly what they are asking of you? Its not always easy, but WE CAN DO IT! Don't let circumstances dictate, you are in control.

Have a great & joyful day!

Can I Eat Your Heart, Mommy?

The other day Aidy was eating her lunch & then she stops & says to me, "Mommy, I want to eat your heart!". I had to stop mid washing dishes to make sure I heard her correctly. Once again she repeated, "Mommy, can I please eat your heart". It took me a second, she definitely had me scratching my head for a few. I grabbed a pretzel during my break to try & figure out what she could possibly mean. "Please, Mommy" she chirped again. it then hit me, she calls pretzels hearts! Your think about it, they kind of do look like hearts lol! So sweet.
I was playing in the "Princess Playroom" with the babies today & Aidy came over to me & said," I want to hold you, Mommy. Just for a minute" (Transaltion, she wanted me to hold her for a few minutes Haha). I am constantly saying how we need to keep our eyes open for when 1 of our kiddos might need a lil' extra loving, but hey them coming up & asking is okay too! ;)
Well, today was picture day. Every 3 months we find ourselves back in the portrait studio, they know us by name! After it was all said & done we were making our way back to the car (arms full of props, diaper bags, car seat, etc I also had Aidy on my hip) I kept having to shift things around to keep my numbing arm alive & keep Aidy from falling & then Aidy said, "Wow, Mommy. Your heavy!". I could have taken that the wrong way, but she meant that her lil' 2 1/2 yr old self was heavy because I kept almost losing my grip. Right? Lol.

In the Words of Asher-Ewww!

A recent study by U of A found that restraunt high chairs are covered in nasty bacteria. We all figured that, right? But the next time you think about skipping on using your cart cover on a restraunt high chair or don't feel like wiping it down first, think about this.... When the high chairs were swabbed in approx. 30 restraunts, they found counts of bacteria MUCH HIGHER than a public toilet seat-Yuck! Don't be deceived if a chair looks clean because it might have only been wiped down with a sponge that actually introduces even more germs. 2/3 of restraunt high chairs tested postive for potentially harmful bacterias such as E. coli & MRSA! So the next time you head out to a restraunt with your babies don't forget to bring along antibacterial wipes, a cart cover, bibs, & Table Toppers! (Info found in Parents Magazine April 2011)

Weekend Update!

It was definitely an action packed weekend filled with a visit from great grandma, a princess birthday, a wedding, church, feeding some ducks, visiting the dog park, & enjoying some swings! Busy, but I wouldn't change a thing!!!
My lil' ones had a blast at their lil' friend's princess birthday. Jay was a true daddy & toughed it out with us. Funny because he ended up being the life of the party playing tag in the grass & being mobbed by like 7 lil' giggling princesses. Can you tell he has 3 girls, lol!
The wedding was kind of nice because I got to catch up with a few high school buddies, the guy who got married was the same 1 that caught my garter at our wedding 3 years earlier. On the other hand though, it made me realize time sure does fly & I feel kind of old now, ha ha...
The girls took a WAY long nap after church & didn't wake up until like 5pm (an hour before their normal bedtime), so I knew we were going to have to go out & do something fun & active to stimulate their minds before putting them to bed again for the night. We ended up going to the duck pond 1st. Aidann was so into feeding the ducks their bread & talking to them. Asher on the other hand pretty much said "forget this". Every time we were looking she would throw the ducks a lil' (I mean lil' piece) & then once we turned our heads she would jam a HUGE piece into her mouth, "A lil' for you, a lot for me!". She is sooo funny. After we ran out of bread we had some tortillas in the car. "Ducks want tortillas, Mom". So, we fed the ducks some tortillas too. It was all in all a good time. After feeding the ducks we went over to the dog park area. The girls loved watching the dogs (their daddy is trying to brain wash them into wanting a dog, but I know they really want a cat...Lol!). The girls were so intrigued...Well, until of course a huge dog come right over to the fence & takes a huge...You know what. From then on all Asher said was, "Ewwwww! Doggie go poo poo". Its cute the first 20 times, ha ha. Then we did some time on the swings & headed home. What do you know, worked like a charm! Asleep by 830...-M&M Momma
