Crafty Mother's Day Ideas

We all know that Mother's Day is not just about mom, but grandmas and great grandmas as well. My mother in law loves to cook all sorts of awesome meals and treats and so for Mother's Day the ladies and I decided to make her an apron. Well, not actually MAKE the apron, but add our own A-Team piazza to the front of one.

In an earlier post I had said that you should always try to have some acrylic paints on hand. If you listened, lol, then this first craft idea should be a relatively easy and inexpensive thing to create. Before doing anything, grab your Hobby Lobby coupons or bring your cellphone so you can show them a coupon from their iPhone app. Then you are ready to go!

They had a pretty cute assortment of aprons to choose from at one of my favorite craft stores. If you want to get all your stuff in one spot then also pick up a few acrylic paints and puffy paints if you are going to be spelling out any words. Iron ons can also be fun! If you are not married to getting everything at one store then Walmart sells paints at a more reasonable price.

You can pretty much get as creative as you want with the apron, but I chose to do hands prints towards the bottom with the girls names, "Happy Morher's Day 2013" on the pocket and then I am going to add a cute lil iron on to the top of the apron that is blinged out!

My ladies loved taking part in this project and I am glad we made something grandma can actually use that also captures the girls at this point in time with their lil hands.

Some other really easy and fun projects you can do for M-Day, that also require acrylic paint of course, are decorating a flower pot and adding colorful flowers to it from Lowes or Home Depot. Another craft is having your kiddos decorate canvas, let them paint a special picture or do hand or foot prints.

If paint is not your thing then you can create a mini candy bar bouquet by simply getting a vase or coffee mug, some assortment of mini candy bars, skewers, a small ribbon, and some sort of "decorative stuffing" for the bottom of the vase (like the paper stuff you put in Easter baskets). Just add the stuffing to the bottom of the vase, stick the skewers into the bottom of the candy bars (trim if needed), add the skewers with candy bars to vase (arrange like flowers) and tie a ribbon around the lip of the vase! It's a very simple craft but just let's someone know you think they are sweet and thought about them, especially if you pick their favorite candy bars! They charge so much for bouquets like this in the store, but they are so easy to make and more personal when made with love!

Well, I hope you found some of these ideas to be helpful. Happy Mother's Day!!!
